Water Quality & RO Plant Monitoring

Know what your water is — not just how much of it there is.

An RO plant fails quietly. TDS creeps up as a membrane fouls, a high-pressure pump trips at night, a float sticks and the product tank stops filling — and nobody knows until someone tastes the water or opens a dry tap. The RO Controller puts the plant’s own numbers on your phone: the water quality going in and coming out, the pressures either side of the membrane, and every pump and switch as it changes.

What makes it work

The parts of the diagram above that are doing the real work.

1

Quality in, quality out

Raw, treated and reject TDS, with pH and ORP, side by side — so you can see what the membrane is actually removing. Trends show a membrane wearing out weeks before it fails.

2

Pressures either side of the membrane

Low- and high-pressure readings with inlet and outlet flow tell you whether the plant is working as designed, or straining against a fouled membrane or a blocked pre-filter.

3

Every pump, switch and float

Feed and high-pressure pump run and trip, the low- and high-pressure switches, the multiport valve position and the source and product tank floats — each one shown as it changes.

How it is done

Every step below is a retrofit on the system you already have — no replacement pumps, no civil work.

  1. 1

    Connect to the plant’s PLC

The RO Controller connects to the RO plant’s PLC over RS485 (Modbus RTU) and brings its readings and states onto the Devyami platform.

  2. 2

    Onto Wi-Fi

It reports over Wi-Fi to the Devyami app and web portal, alongside your tanks and pumps.

  3. 3

    Watch the trends

TDS, pH, ORP, flow and pressure history show how the plant is ageing — a slow rise in treated-water TDS is a membrane asking for attention.

  4. 4

    Get told when it trips

Alerts for pump trips, pressure-switch faults and the PLC going offline reach your phone the moment they happen.

What it takes

  • RO Controller, wired to the plant’s PLC over RS485 (Modbus RTU)
  • The RO plant’s PLC with its quality, flow and pressure sensors
  • The Devyami app and web portal

What you get

  • Water quality you can see, going into the plant and coming out of it
  • A fouling membrane spotted by its trend, not by the taste of the water
  • Pump trips and pressure faults reported the moment they happen
  • The RO plant in the same app as your tanks, pumps and heaters

Questions, answered

What does the RO Controller read? +

Raw, treated and reject TDS, pH and ORP; inlet and outlet flow; low- and high-pressure readings; feed and high-pressure pump run and trip; the low- and high-pressure switches; the multiport valve position; and the source and product tank floats.

Does it replace my RO plant’s PLC? +

No — it works with it. The RO Controller connects to the plant’s PLC over RS485 (Modbus RTU) and brings what the PLC knows onto the Devyami app and web portal.

What alerts will I get? +

Pump trips, pressure-switch faults and the PLC going offline — each one sent to your phone as it happens.

The rest of the system

Every capability runs on the same controllers, the same app and the same live data.

Smart tank monitoring & automation

Two ways to read a tank — non-contact ultrasonic on the lid, or a contact hydrostatic level transmitter hanging in the water. Both report live percent and litres, warn you before an overflow or an empty tank, and feed the same reading the controller switches your pumps on.

How it is done →

Pressure monitoring

Hydro-pneumatic (HPN) systems keep constant pressure across a whole building: pumps cascade in as demand rises, each start goes to the pump with the fewest starts so the set wears evenly, and a pump that trips is covered by the next. A pressure transmitter on the header puts live line pressure in the app — which pumps are running, pressure trends and every changeover.

How it is done →

Temperature & heat pump monitoring

A monitored circulation loop keeps hot water at every tap the moment it opens — no running the shower cold for a minute. The app watches loop temperature, runs the circulation pump only when needed, and coordinates heat pumps and geysers so comfort never fights efficiency.

How it is done →

Water metering & batching

Digital flow meters turn every pipeline into a number you can manage: litres pumped today, consumption per wing or per site, and totals you can export. Water metering is also your leak detector — flow at 3 AM when everyone is asleep is a leak announcing itself.

How it is done →

Timers & schedules

Garden irrigation, landscape zones and fountains run to a schedule you set once from your phone: start time, run duration, which days, which zone. The controller keeps time locally, skips a cycle when the tank is too low to spare the water, and logs every run.

How it is done →

Pump control, fault tracking & stats

Every pump shows its truth in the app: running, stopped or tripped and why, current, voltage and run hours — and a Start/Stop that works from anywhere. A fault alert reaches your phone the moment a pump trips.
