Smart water solutions in Gandhinagar Round-the-clock, metered water in a capital of sectors

Since November 2025 Gandhinagar's sectors have moved from a two-hour morning supply to continuous, metered water. That changes what a home needs: less racing to fill tanks, more attention to overflow, leaks and water quality.

From source to your tap

How water reaches you in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar draws water from the Narmada canal system and, since 15 November 2025, delivers it round the clock across the sectors, with a meter on every residential unit and bills based on use. The change replaced a two-hour morning supply. Within weeks, leaks in the newly laid pipeline network let sewage into drinking water in Sectors 24 and 28 and Adivada, and a typhoid outbreak followed. Underground, CGWB rates every taluka in the district as over-exploited. Devyami helps sector bungalows, Kudasan towers and campus hostels get the most from continuous supply: tight tank control, clean water and well-protected backup pumps.

  1. Step 1

    Narmada Main Canal

Bulk raw water for the capital comes off the Narmada Main Canal through a supply project built for Gandhinagar.

  2. Step 2

    State head works

State agencies, the Roads and Buildings capital project wing and the Water Supply Board, run the head works and trunk lines that feed the sectors.

  3. Step 3

    24x7 network

Around 65 MLD now flows continuously through the sector network and is metered at every residential unit.

  4. Step 4

    Your connection

Water reaches your tap under pressure, and if your building keeps a sump and overhead tank, it now works as a buffer rather than a lifeline.

  5. Where we take over

    Your tank, automated

Sensors read every tank, an APCON controller runs and protects the pump, and the app shows it all on your phone.

Gandhinagar's water, honestly

What Gandhinagar throws at your water system, and the fix for each

Leaks in a newly laid network

In early January 2026 suspected typhoid cases in Sectors 24 and 28 and the Adivada area crossed 100, with children the worst affected. Officials found seven leak points in the newly laid pipeline network where sewage was mixing with drinking water.

How we fix it

Sediment filtration, activated carbon and UV disinfection at the point of entry treat everything that reaches your taps, not just the kitchen. We size the unit to your peak flow and service it on a schedule so the UV lamp stays effective.

Metered bills make overflow costly

Billing has moved from a flat rate to monthly or bi-monthly charges based on what your meter records. A tank that overflows for an hour, or a float valve that never quite shuts, now shows up on the bill.

How we fix it

A level controller with wired or wireless sensors stops the pump or closes the inlet the moment the tank is full and restarts only when the level drops to your set point.

An aquifer drawn past its limit

CGWB rates all four talukas of the district as over-exploited, with Gandhinagar taluka at about 116 percent development, and the Central Ground Water Authority has notified it. Groundwater close to the Sabarmati carries fluoride above 1.5 ppm.

How we fix it

If you keep a borewell as backup, protect the submersible with dry-run, overload and voltage cut-outs so a falling water level never burns the motor, and route drinking water through RO.

Hidden leaks now run all day

With water in the pipes round the clock, a running float valve or a cracked line inside the compound wastes water continuously instead of for two hours a morning. The meter records every litre of it.

How we fix it

Our app tracks tank levels and pump run-times live, so an unusual overnight drop or a pump that keeps restarting shows up as an alert long before the bill does.

Cold-wave winter mornings

Winter runs from November to February, and cold waves riding western disturbances can push minimum temperatures down sharply. Hostels, guest houses and institutional campuses need large volumes of hot water early in the day.

How we fix it

A heat pump, or solar collectors with heat-pump backup, heats water using far less electricity than resistance geysers, and our controller schedules heating ahead of the morning peak.

Watch it run

Watch a building in Gandhinagar run its own water

This is the same diagram our customers see in the app. The sump and the overhead tank are both sensed, and one APCON controller decides when the pump runs.

  • The pump starts when the overhead tank is low, but only if the sump has water to give
  • It stops at your full level, so the tank never overflows
  • Dry run, overload and voltage faults trip it before the motor is damaged
  • Your phone shows each level, each pump run and each alert as it happens

Questions from Gandhinagar

What people here ask us

Gandhinagar has 24x7 water now. Do I still need a level controller?

If your home or building has a sump, an overhead tank or a booster pump, yes. With meter-based billing, overflow and leaking float valves cost money every day. A controller stops the pump or inlet the moment the tank is full and protects the motor from dry running.

After the typhoid outbreak, what treatment should a Sector 24 home add?

Treat at the point of entry, not just the kitchen: sediment filtration, activated carbon and UV disinfection sized to your peak flow. If you also use a borewell, add RO for drinking water, since fluoride can exceed safe limits near the Sabarmati. We service the plant on a schedule so the filters and UV lamp keep working.

Which water heater suits a hostel or guest house in Gandhinagar?

For steady morning demand, a heat pump water heater, or solar collectors with heat-pump backup. Our heat pump controller pre-heats before the morning rush and holds temperature without wasting power. We size the system from occupancy, not from the number of bathrooms.

Do you install and service Devyami systems in Gandhinagar?

Yes. Tell us about your building, society or factory and our engineers design the system around Gandhinagar's water. A Devyami dealer or installer then installs, commissions and services it locally, and every connected controller can be checked remotely through our platform. The first site consultation is free.

Will the automation keep working without internet or after a power cut?

Yes. Level switching, pressure control, schedules and every motor protection run inside the controller on your wall, not in the cloud. The internet only carries the live view and alerts to your phone. The controller keeps its own real-time clock and remembers its delays through a power cut.

Can you automate my existing pumps and tanks without new wiring?

Usually, yes. The APCON Motor Driver takes the old starter panel’s place on the wall, on the pump and tanks you already have. Wireless level sensors reach terrace and underground tanks where running a cable would mean breaking walls. A single-pump retrofit is usually done in a few hours.
