Smart water solutions in Nashik Gangapur water, cold winters and Kumbh-sized crowds

Nashik runs mostly on Gangapur dam, with Mukane and the Chehedi pumping station adding to it, and the 2026–28 Simhastha Kumbh brings crores of visitors. We help homes, hotels and factories store, heat and treat water through the peaks.

From source to your tap

How water reaches you in Nashik

Nashik's taps are fed mainly from Gangapur dam on the Godavari, supported by Mukane and the Chehedi pumping station, and since November 2025 by NMC's 274 MLD Vilholi treatment plant. The city has been losing about 45 percent of its water as non-revenue water, which NMC aims to cut to 27 percent with new pipes and SCADA. Meanwhile, newer colonies such as Makhmalabad, Adgaon and Pathardi have waited on tankers in summer. From Panchavati to Indira Nagar and the Satpur and Ambad MIDC belts, Devyami's controllers, solar heaters, heat pumps and RO plants are built for this mix.

  1. Step 1

    Western catchment

Heavy monsoon rain in the west of the district, where Igatpuri has averaged well over 3,000 mm a year, fills the dams that serve the city.

  2. Step 2

    Pumping stations

Raw water is lifted at the Gangapur, Chehedi and Mukane pumping stations and sent to treatment plants such as Bara Bangla and the new Vilholi WTP.

  3. Step 3

    SCADA network

Treated water moves through a network that NMC is upgrading with new pipelines and SCADA automation to bring losses down from about 45 percent.

  4. Step 4

    Sump and tank

Homes and societies store it in sumps and overhead tanks, and when the plants shut for maintenance, as the whole city's supply did on 10 May 2025, that storage is all you have.

  5. Where we take over

    Your tank, automated

Sensors read every tank, an APCON controller runs and protects the pump, and the app shows it all on your phone.

Nashik's water, honestly

What Nashik throws at your water system, and the fix for each

New colonies outrunning the mains

In April 2024 colonies such as Makhmalabad, Adgaon, Gangapur village, Chandshi and Pathardi faced acute drinking-water shortages because pipelines and reservoirs had not kept pace with construction. NMC stepped up tankers to about fifty rounds a day.

How we fix it

A motor driver on your sump pump fills the overhead tank whenever water reaches the sump, from the main or a tanker, and shuts off before the pump can run dry.

Citywide maintenance shutdowns

On 10 May 2025 NMC shut supply to the entire city for substation work at the Bara Bangla plant, with the Gangapur, Chehedi and Mukane pumping stations also halted and only low-pressure supply expected the next morning.

How we fix it

Wireless level sensors and the Devyami app show how many hours of water you hold before a shutdown, and alert you when supply returns or a tank runs low.

Nitrate in wells and borewells

CGWB found nitrate above the permissible limit in about 60 percent of monitored well samples in Nashik district, making nitrate the main barrier to drinking groundwater, while most other parameters stayed within limits.

How we fix it

Test the source, then use RO for drinking and cooking; our RO controller tracks pressure and product quality and protects the membranes if feed water stops.

Genuinely cold winter mornings

Nashik dipped to 8.6 °C in January 2024 while the wheat research centre at Niphad recorded 6.8 °C, and CGWB notes winter minimums below 5 °C in the district. Hot water demand at homes, hostels and hotels jumps through December and January.

How we fix it

Solar water heaters make the most of Nashik's dry, clear winter days, and a heat pump on our controller covers the coldest dawns and cloudy spells without the running cost of electric geysers.

Kumbh-season peaks for hotels and ashrams

The 2026–28 Simhastha Kumbh, with its first Amrut Snan on 2 August 2027, is expected to bring more than a crore visitors. NMC is also unlocking about 600 mcft of Gangapur's dead storage as a one-month emergency reserve.

How we fix it

A hydro-pneumatic pressure system on our multi-pump controller runs up to six pumps as one, bringing pumps in as rooms fill and dropping them at night to hold steady pressure without waste.

Heavy catchment rain can fill Gangapur fast; on 24 July 2026 a release of about 14,400 cusecs pushed the Godavari past the danger mark and submerged the Dutondya Maruti at Ramkund.

Watch it run

Watch a building in Nashik run its own water

This is the same diagram our customers see in the app. The sump and the overhead tank are both sensed, and one APCON controller decides when the pump runs.

  • The pump starts when the overhead tank is low, but only if the sump has water to give
  • It stops at your full level, so the tank never overflows
  • Dry run, overload and voltage faults trip it before the motor is damaged
  • Your phone shows each level, each pump run and each alert as it happens

Questions from Nashik

What people here ask us

Our colony on the edge of Nashik still depends on tankers. What should we set up?

Build enough sump storage, then automate it. A motor driver fills the overhead tank whenever the sump has water and protects the pump from dry running, while LoRa sensors and the Devyami app show levels so you can book the next tanker before you run out.

Which water heater works best for a Nashik winter?

For homes, a solar water heater sized for the family does most of the work on clear winter days. Hotels, hostels and hospitals should add a heat pump on our heat pump controller, which takes over on cold dawns and cloudy days at far lower running cost than electric geysers.

We run a hotel near Panchavati. How do we get our water system ready for Kumbh crowds?

Check storage first, then pressure. A hydro-pneumatic system on our multi-pump controller keeps every room at steady pressure as occupancy swings, an RO plant with our RO controller handles drinking water, and the Devyami app lets your manager watch tank levels through the busiest days.

Do you install and service Devyami systems in Nashik?

Yes. Tell us about your building, society or factory and our engineers design the system around Nashik's water. A Devyami dealer or installer then installs, commissions and services it locally, and every connected controller can be checked remotely through our platform. The first site consultation is free.

Will the automation keep working without internet or after a power cut?

Yes. Level switching, pressure control, schedules and every motor protection run inside the controller on your wall, not in the cloud. The internet only carries the live view and alerts to your phone. The controller keeps its own real-time clock and remembers its delays through a power cut.

Can you automate my existing pumps and tanks without new wiring?

Usually, yes. The APCON Motor Driver takes the old starter panel’s place on the wall, on the pump and tanks you already have. Wireless level sensors reach terrace and underground tanks where running a cable would mean breaking walls. A single-pump retrofit is usually done in a few hours.
