Smart water solutions in Raipur Kharun river water, twice a day, limestone underfoot

Raipur's taps fill from the Kharun through the Bhatagaon filter plants, usually in a morning and an evening slot, while borewells draw hard water from limestone. We help homes, colonies and plants make both sources dependable.

From source to your tap

How water reaches you in Raipur

Raipur Municipal Corporation treats Kharun river water at the Bhatagaon filter plant complex, where three plants offer about 310 MLD, and pumps it to overhead tanks that release supply in a morning and an evening slot. When a substation goes down, as on 11 June 2026, the evening slot can vanish for 42 tanks at once, from Telibandha to Gudhiyari. Borewells tap limestone and dolomite, where CGWB has measured hardness of about 155–318 mg/L. Devyami's pump automation, softeners, RO and tank monitoring help homes in Shankar Nagar, Amlidih and Nava Raipur handle both.

  1. Step 1

    Kharun river

The Kharun, part of the Mahanadi basin, is the city's main raw-water source, with groundwater filling in where pipes do not reach.

  2. Step 2

    Bhatagaon plants

Three filter plants at the Bhatagaon complex, of 150, 80 and 80 MLD, treat the water, and all three were classified as zero-waste-water plants under AMRUT in 2024.

  3. Step 3

    Overhead tanks

Treated water is pumped to overhead tanks across the city, which release it to each area in a morning and an evening slot.

  4. Step 4

    Your sump

Homes catch each slot in a sump or rooftop tank, and many supplement it with borewells, which in the district are typically 60 to 150 metres deep.

  5. Where we take over

    Your tank, automated

Sensors read every tank, an APCON controller runs and protects the pump, and the app shows it all on your phone.

Raipur's water, honestly

What Raipur throws at your water system, and the fix for each

Evening slots that can disappear

On 11 June 2026, maintenance at the Rawanbhata 33 kV substation cut power to the intake well and filter plants, and 42 overhead tanks missed their evening supply across areas from Telibandha and Shankar Nagar to Gudhiyari and Mowa. Tank cleaning in January 2025 similarly disrupted evening supply around Raipura and Sarona.

How we fix it

A motor driver at your sump fills the overhead tank in whichever slot water actually comes, then stops, and protects the pump from dry running when a slot is missed.

Hard borewells, ageing pipes

CGWB measured total hardness of about 155–318 mg/L in the Raipur district's limestone and dolomite aquifers. In the city itself, reporting on repeated jaundice outbreaks found more than half the supply pipes running through drainage lines.

How we fix it

A multigrade filter and softener protect geysers, solar heaters and fittings from scale, and UV or an RO plant with our RO controller at the drinking-water point guards against what old pipes can carry.

Ward shortages while new tanks wait

In April 2026, residents of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Ward in Raipur North went days with little or no water and relied on tankers, while a planned 2.5 million litre overhead tank stalled over a land dispute.

How we fix it

LoRa sensors and the Devyami app show your sump and tank levels in real time and alert you as they fall, so you can arrange a tanker before the house runs dry.

The Kharun in spate

In late September 2026 the swollen Kharun waterlogged riverside villages in Raipur and Durg districts and submerged the Raipur–Bhilai road at Mahadev Ghat. With a normal rainfall of about 1,300 mm, mostly between June and September, low plots and basements need a way to clear water.

How we fix it

A twin motor driver runs a pair of dewatering pumps from a level sensor and shares running hours between them, so the standby is ready the day a riverside plot or basement starts to fill.

Heatwaves that drain gardens

Raipur touched 45.1 °C in late May 2026, 2.6 degrees above normal, as a heatwave gripped Chhattisgarh. Lawns, landscaped colonies and fountains lose the most water to evaporation in the midday heat.

How we fix it

An irrigation controller waters lawns and runs fountains on early-morning and evening schedules, cutting evaporation losses and leaving more of the day's supply for the house.

Monsoon

Most of the roughly 1,300 mm of rain falls between June and September, heaviest in July and August, and the Kharun can spill onto riverside roads.

Winter

Winters from November to January are short and mild, so a correctly sized solar water heater usually covers bathing needs on its own.

Watch it run

Watch a building in Raipur run its own water

This is the same diagram our customers see in the app. The sump and the overhead tank are both sensed, and one APCON controller decides when the pump runs.

  • The pump starts when the overhead tank is low, but only if the sump has water to give
  • It stops at your full level, so the tank never overflows
  • Dry run, overload and voltage faults trip it before the motor is damaged
  • Your phone shows each level, each pump run and each alert as it happens

Questions from Raipur

What people here ask us

Our Raipur house misses the evening supply some days. How do we keep the tank full?

Keep enough sump storage to cover one missed slot, then let a Devyami motor driver handle the pump. It fills the overhead tank whenever water arrives, morning or evening, stops when full and will not let the pump run dry. Wireless level sensors with the Devyami app can also warn you when the tank drops below a set mark.

Our borewell water leaves white scale on taps and the geyser. What do we need?

That is hardness from the limestone your borewell draws on. A softener, ideally after a multigrade filter, removes it for the whole house; if a test also shows high TDS, add RO with our RO controller for drinking water.

We run a unit at Urla. Can Devyami automate our water system?

Yes. Our multi-pump controller runs up to six pumps as one pressure system with VFD and PID control, the multi-tank level controller fills several storage tanks in order from one pump set, and the IoT app gives your maintenance team live levels and trip alerts.

Do you install and service Devyami systems in Raipur?

Yes. Tell us about your building, society or factory and our engineers design the system around Raipur's water. A Devyami dealer or installer then installs, commissions and services it locally, and every connected controller can be checked remotely through our platform. The first site consultation is free.

Will the automation keep working without internet or after a power cut?

Yes. Level switching, pressure control, schedules and every motor protection run inside the controller on your wall, not in the cloud. The internet only carries the live view and alerts to your phone. The controller keeps its own real-time clock and remembers its delays through a power cut.

Can you automate my existing pumps and tanks without new wiring?

Usually, yes. The APCON Motor Driver takes the old starter panel’s place on the wall, on the pump and tanks you already have. Wireless level sensors reach terrace and underground tanks where running a cable would mean breaking walls. A single-pump retrofit is usually done in a few hours.
