Jaipur's water

Fixed Bisalpur slots, deep borewells, abundant sun

Jaipur's piped water comes from Bisalpur dam through the Balawala pumping station and reaches most colonies in fixed morning and evening slots. We automate the pumps that catch it, treat the borewell water and put the sun to work.

Jaipur's taps depend on the Bisalpur dam, whose water is pumped through a long transmission main to Balawala and on to colonies from Mansarovar to Jhotwara in fixed morning and evening supply slots. When a pipeline leaks or the grid feeder at Balawala is under maintenance, whole zones miss a supply. Beneath the city, borewells are deep, most of the district's blocks are rated over-exploited, and fluoride and nitrate show up in tests. Devyami sets up level controllers that catch every supply window, treatment matched to your borewell report, and solar or heat-pump water heating for clear skies and cold January mornings.

How water reaches you in Jaipur

  1. Step 1

    Bisalpur dam

Water is drawn from the Bisalpur dam on the Banas, the city's main piped source.

  2. Step 2

    Long-haul pumping

It is pumped through a long transmission main to the Balawala pumping station, which feeds the city.

  3. Step 3

    Scheduled distribution

From Balawala, PHED releases water to colony after colony on a fixed morning and evening schedule, so one outage there can cost most of the city an evening supply.

  4. Step 4

    Your sump

Supply lands in your underground sump, and a pump has to lift it to the overhead tank before the window closes.

  5. Where we take over

    Your tank, automated

Sensors read every tank, an APCON controller runs and protects the pump, and the app shows it all on your phone.

Jaipur's water, honestly

What Jaipur throws at your water system, and the fix for each

Supply that comes in windows

Bisalpur water reaches most colonies in fixed morning and evening slots, and a missed slot means waiting for the next one. Planned grid maintenance at Balawala in December 2025 cancelled the evening supply in areas from Malviya Nagar and Mansarovar to Jhotwara and Vidhyadhar Nagar, and pipeline leaks on the Bisalpur system disrupted supply several times that year.

How we fix it

An APCON motor driver starts the pump the moment water reaches your sump, fills the overhead tank and stops, with dry-run protection so the motor never runs on an empty line.

Fluoride and nitrate in borewells

The Central Ground Water Board names over-exploitation and fluoride contamination as the main groundwater problems in Jaipur district, with most of its blocks rated over-exploited. A 2021 study of north-eastern Jaipur found nitrate up to 550 mg/L and TDS above 500 mg/L, and most samples missed the Indian drinking-water limits for one or both.

How we fix it

We start from a lab report, then size an RO plant with pre-filtration and an APCON RO controller that tracks pressure and output quality, so you can see the treatment is still working.

Tanker season on the fringes

PHED has deployed around 600 to 700 tankers a day in summer, and those tankers draw on groundwater. Growing areas such as Jagatpura, Pratap Nagar and the Kho Nagorian colonies were among those listed for new connections under the Bisalpur-II expansion.

How we fix it

Wireless level sensors and the Devyami IoT app show your sump and overhead tank levels on your phone, so you book a tanker before you run dry rather than after.

Clear skies, cold mornings

Rajasthan gets roughly 300 to 330 clear days a year, and Jaipur's May afternoons average above 41°C. January nights still average around 8°C, and the city has recorded temperatures below freezing.

How we fix it

A solar water heater covers most of the year at almost no running cost, and a heat pump on the same tank takes over on hazy winter days.

Downpours that flood basements

Heavy overnight rain on 1 August 2024 flooded a basement in Jaipur's Vishwakarma area, and three people, including a young girl, drowned. Short, intense bursts can fill basements and low roads faster than drains clear them.

How we fix it

A dewatering pump with automatic float or level start clears basements and lift pits as water enters, and an app alert tells you it is running.

Summer

Afternoons average above 41°C in May, demand climbs, and tankers drawing on groundwater fill the gaps the Bisalpur slots leave.

Monsoon

A good monsoon is what refills Bisalpur for the year ahead, but heavy overnight bursts can flood basements and low roads within hours, as they did on 1 August 2024.

Winter

Clear, dry and cold, with January nights averaging around 8°C, which makes solar heating with a heat-pump backup a practical pairing.

Watch it run

Watch a building in Jaipur run its own water

This is the same diagram our customers see in the app. The sump and the overhead tank are both sensed, and one APCON controller decides when the pump runs.

  • The pump starts when the overhead tank is low, but only if the sump has water to give
  • It stops at your full level, so the tank never overflows
  • Dry run, overload and voltage faults trip it before the motor is damaged
  • Your phone shows each level, each pump run and each alert as it happens

Questions from Jaipur

What people here ask us

Our colony in Jaipur gets Bisalpur water only for a short time. How do we make sure the overhead tank fills?

Put the sump-to-overhead-tank pump on a level controller. Devyami's APCON motor driver senses water in the sump, starts the pump, stops it when the overhead tank is full and trips it if the sump runs dry. If you have more than one tank, a multi-tank level controller fills them in order from the same pump set.

Is RO necessary for borewell water in Jaipur?

Often, but test first. Groundwater in parts of Jaipur carries high TDS and nitrate, and fluoride is a known problem in the district. We size the RO plant and pre-filters to your lab report and add an APCON RO controller so you can see when membranes need attention.

Does a new building in Jaipur need rainwater harvesting?

Since a 2010 amendment to Rajasthan's Urban Improvement Act, buildings constructed on urban plots larger than 300 sq m must install rainwater harvesting. Devyami can add level sensing and a transfer pump if you store roof water for reuse, and a dewatering pump with automatic start for basements that take in water during heavy rain.

Do you install and service Devyami systems in Jaipur?

Yes. Tell us about your building, society or factory and our engineers design the system around Jaipur's water. A Devyami dealer or installer then installs, commissions and services it locally, and every connected controller can be checked remotely through our platform. The first site consultation is free.

Will the automation keep working without internet or after a power cut?

Yes. Level switching, pressure control, schedules and every motor protection run inside the controller on your wall, not in the cloud. The internet only carries the live view and alerts to your phone. The controller keeps its own real-time clock and remembers its delays through a power cut.

Can you automate my existing pumps and tanks without new wiring?

Usually, yes. The APCON Motor Driver takes the old starter panel’s place on the wall, on the pump and tanks you already have. Wireless level sensors reach terrace and underground tanks where running a cable would mean breaking walls. A single-pump retrofit is usually done in a few hours.
